Insects as Food

(1 review)

“Insects as Food!?!” is a reading comprised of multiple discussions and activities regarding entomophagy. Students explore the nutrition of insects, ‘action levels’ in common goods such as flour and chocolate, and can conclude by trying their own ‘bug food’. These activities could easily be incorporated into cooking classes or historical or social studies.

Note: Some of the sources included are quite old and may be outdated.

This resource is not a lesson plan, but more a series of activities related to eating insects. We haven’t really found many entomophagy (insect-eating) resources for teachers, so wanted to include this one here despite it’s lack of standards alignment.
