When developing how does our body know where to put our limbs, head, eyes? By using the Hox gene! This resource is a fantastic short introduction to Homeotic genes. Much of this research has focused on insects, and fantastic graphics show how this knowledge was expanded into other animals, including humans. Diagrams also map out how different Hox genes are activated in different arthropod body plans.

This is an outstanding resource for teaching about evolution and the diversity of arthropod (and other animal) body plans. The images are very clear, and the resource walks the reader through how we know, and came to understand, diversification via hox genes.
