This resource produced by NIH in 2016 has two lessons, each aimed at different grades. Each pose as an introduction into the forensic entomology world.
Lesson 1 for Grades 6-9 walks students through calculating accumulated degree hours in order to determine the age of maggots. This data is used in determining the time of death of cases.
Lesson 2 for Grades 9-12 has data from an actual murder case, including notes from the testifying forensic entomologist, and data. Students utilise the details given to determine what factors may affect the different life stages of blowflies.
Note that the case is quite graphic with it’s crime scene details, discretion is advised (victim stabbed 15 times, for example.)
