Buzz Into Action: Insect Curriculum For Grades K–4

(1 review)

This book contains 20 hands-on-lessons about insects which are a mix of indoor and outdoor activities. They can be used as a curriculum or separately. Published by the National Science Teaching Association, every lesson is NGSS-standards aligned and emphasizes inquiry. We especially like that each lesson has a “reflect and explain” section that encourages students to discuss what they learned and their sense-making process.

Each Lesson Includes:

  • Objectives, materials lists, and background information
  • Step-by-step procedures and worksheets
  • Assessments and extensions
  • Alternate instructions for different seasons, if an outdoor activity

Topics include: Insect anatomy, metamorphosis, pollinators, camouflage, migration, communication, decomposition, and more.

This fun K-4 book uses interdisciplinary approaches to help young learners investigate the insects around them. Because it’s from NSTA, you know it’s been field tested and aligned with standards. Lessons can be used in both formal and informal teaching.
