Bumble Bee And Fungicides Case Study

(1 review)

This video case study explores whether fungicides play a role in the decline of native bee populations. In particular, it highlights the interactions between fungi and bumblebee larvae. A teacher’s guide and a student handout are both available, as well as a transcript for accessibility.

The video is interactive, with questions included at multiple points throughout the film. It is about 6 minutes in length, with 9 questions which are also on the student handout.

While the video is available in Spanish and English, the student and teacher handouts are unfortunately only available in English.

BioInteractive is part of HHMI’s Science and Educational Media Group which aims to transform science education into a creative, interdisciplinary endeavor that reflects the excitement of real research.
This engaging video introduces students to the issue of off target effects, as well as native bees. Students are asked to draw conclusions from the research presented in the video. However, I’m not sure that I would call this “interactive”; there is no actual data set or other materials for manipulation.
